Born July 11, 1983, in New York City. Singer/pianist Peter burst onto the jazz music scene with his eponymous debut CD in 2003, one of the more skilled of the new generation of crooners. A piano prodigy, Cincotti ably showed showcased his chops on the debut CD, with a mix of standards and originals, carefully selected by him and producer Phil Ramone. Not content to be pigeonholed, Cincotti's sophomore effort, 2004's On the Moon showed him expanding his horizons both musically and personally, with a broader mix of styles (from a funk rendition of Bali h'ai from South Pacific to a poignant cover of Ray Charles' You Don't Know Me). Now signed to Warner Records and working with mega-producer, David Foster, Peter's third CD, the newly titled East of Angel Town, which is set for release in early 2007 will mark yet another departure as it will be his first release of all original material, all of the songs written or co-written by him and featuring another diverse mix of styles, ranging from ballad to blues to funk, yet always undercored by his considerable jazz talent and piano skills.

You Don't Know Me Lyrics

Peter Cincotti

You give your hand to me and then you say, "Hello,"
I can hardly speak; my heart is beating so.
And anyone can tell you think you know me well,
Well you don't know me
No, you don't know the one who dreams of you at night,
And longs to kiss your lips and longs to hold you tight.
To you I'm just a friend; that's all I've ever been,
Well, you don't know me.
I never knew the art of making love
Though my heart aches with love for you.
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by,
The chance that you might love me, too.
You give your hand to me and then you say goodbye;
I watch you walk away beside the lucky guy.
And you will never know the one who loves you so,
Well, you don't know me.
I never knew the art of making love
Though my heart aches with love for you.
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by,
The chance you might love me, too.
You give your hand to me and then you say goodbye;
I watch you walk away beside the lucky guy.
And you'll never ever know the one who loves you so,
Well, you don't know me.
